The Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.M.L.T) is a 3 year undergraduate degree course, affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU) Jabalpur. BMLT is one of the largest and impoverished wings in the modern healthcare field. With the advancement of medical sciences, the physician requires the help of medical laboratories for the diagnosis of rapidly growing diseases.

This program aims to shape lab technician with the right moral and ethical values and prepare students to play very vital role in diagnosis of various diseases and conditions. It is a career oriented course with bright prospects in the future. After completion of this course one can work in various hospitals, research centers and can open their own laboratories.

Eligibility Criteria:

A student should have passed higher secondary (10+2) with Biology as a subject from any recognized board with a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate.

Duration of Program:

It is the three-year full time course comprising of both theoretical and practical subjects.

Employment Areas for BMLT Graduates in Bhopal , M.P., India and Abroad:

Private and Govt. Hospitals: A Lab Technician provides information about patients diagnosis and treatment by performing laboratory tests in biochemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology laboratories. They are responsible for recording and analyzing test reports.

Blood Banks: Blood bank technicians, also called phlebotomy technicians, work in a lab under the guidance of a medical or clinical laboratory technologist or managers. Technicians collect, label and prepare blood, plasma and other components for transfusions.

Nursing Homes

R&D lab: (R&D) lab technicians are responsible to work in a research facility. They are responsible for conducting tests, gathering information, keeping precise records, and ensuring records are documented effectively.

Pathology laboratories:  The interest and demand for laboratory technicians are on the upswing.

BMLT graduates are hired in capacities such as Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Manager, Medical Officer, Medical Record Technician, Resident Medical Officer, Lab Assistant, and Laboratory Testing Manager. After successfully completing the BMLT course, the candidate can also opt for the PG courses like MMLT.
