“Dear Youth: Life is Precious”

“Dear Youth: Life is Precious”

Youth are the most important pillars of a prosperous country. The potential that today’s youth has, will determine the future of our nation. The most urgent is to empower and strengthen our youth physically, mentally and very important emotionally.  Their life is precious for the nation to flourish.

Youth must understand that “Life is very precious and beautiful”. I am saying this in view of the increasing cases of suicide amongst youth.

We all are here to accomplish our life goals. We have to play various important roles in a real life movie called, ‘life’; and the one who can master the art of living with all the aspects of life in harmony, will win the Oscar of this movie. We are the creator of our own destiny, master of our own life; no one else can ever shape our life, until we allow them.

Every coin has two sides, good and bad. Similarly life too, has challenges to deal with the sad and depressing moments along with happiness, joy and success. Thus, if we love to enjoy the bright side of life, then we must also learn to bear the dark side, too. To smell the fragrance of roses, sometimes we have to bear the pain of thorns.

Circumstances may be hard but every night has a morning; every suffering has an end and every problem has a solution. Therefore, the tunnel of obstacles will definitely lead to a bright and joyful end. We must be strong enough to face all the obstacles in the journey of life and must not give up.

Very often, during our hard time we find committing suicide the easiest way to come out of the problem. But your death will affect your loved ones the most. This universe is beautiful; it cannot be unfair to any of us.

According to WHO, more than 8, 00,000 people in the world commit suicide every year. It means one person in every forty seconds. In India, this figure is about 2 to 2.5 lakhs per year. Suicide accounts for one of the leading causes of death among youth. Often, trying to achieve high career status, lavish life, fame or money within a short span of time, people feel depressed when they fall behind or fail. Every human being on this earth has a purpose and life is a journey with problems to solve and lessons to learn but most of all, experiences to enjoy. Thus, suicide will never serve the purpose, but leave you unaccomplished.

We cannot deny the fact that sometimes it is really very tough to face problems in life. The reasons could vary from individual to individual but one of the most important reasons is depression, which mainly includes feeling of loneliness due to indifference of peers, friends or one’s own introvert nature. Another reason behind such suicidal tendency is stress and lack of emotional fulfillment in life. Stress can arise from the pressure of academics, economic crisis, workplace environment and from the show business of social life. Lack of support system from family and friends can cause depression during the emotional breakdown. Today’s youth is progressive in nature; so sometimes there is a clash between their views and the traditional ideologies of their family elders. Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving. Life is full of ups and downs; the trick is to enjoy the good times and to have the courage to go through the bad ones.

Youth are the future of the world. So, we must all stand up to support them always. Mental health education is the need of the hour. This should be included as a necessary part in the curriculum from an early age. If we find someone with feelings of distress, we must reach out to them immediately because feeling of suicide is only a state of mind and it can be nipped with proper care, love, trust and support. Youth must understand that suicide never solves any problems. In fact, it creates problems and unending sorrow for those who really care about us. Time can heal everything, so have patience; things will get better for sure. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, talk to someone, have true friends in your life and stay connected with your family and friends. They are all your real strength.

Dear youth, you need to recognize your potential not only for the betterment of your family, but for the growth and betterment of your nation also.

The tiny seed also knows that in order to grow it needs to be dropped in dirt, covered in darkness and to struggle to reach the light. There is no darkness so dense, so menacing, or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by LIGHT. Thus strive hard and live life to the fullest.

Stay blessed and be happy always!
